P-Con V - Raven Dane

Raven Dane

Raven has always lived a dual existence, born into a lively, creative Celtic family of Irish and Welsh blood but living in more staid Anglo-Saxon England.

She combines a quiet life of family duties with writing dark tales of beautiful, amoral blood drinkers. The only black-clad 'Gothmother' at the school gate, her family and friends have now accepted that a published writer of dark fantasy is allowed to be a little eccentric at times!

Since the start of planning the Legacy of the Dark Kind series in the mid 1990's, Raven has cut herself off from the risk from any outside influence, spurning all vampire films and novels. The result is a series that has been described many times as 'beautifully written', 'refreshingly different' and 'original'.

Raven's interests outside writing and the company of her family and friends, include breeding pure bred Spanish and Connemara horses at her small stud in Buckinghamshire.

And what of the future? Raven is working hard on the rest of Legacy of the Dark Kind series and hope many people will enjoy their visits to the Land of Secrets and Shadows. She is also dabbling in a light- hearted tale of fantasy folk with the work in progress title of 'The Unwise Woman of Foggis Swamp.'

Raven was delighted to launch Blood Lament, the second book in the series at P-Con IV. "Bringing my work to Ireland was important to me, not only have I cherished the love and support of my family here but I am sure childhood days spent in medieval Kilkenny City with its ancient walls, winding streets, castle and towers have been an important early influence."

By P Con V Raven hopes to have finished and published Blood Alliance, the third in the series. But whatever the stage the book has reached by next March, Raven is looking forward to meeting up with her new friends at P-Con, even the dreaded brain devouring plush Chluthu!

Raven has blogs here and here, and her website can be found here.
